Governor Doyle approves $3 million for US 2 improvements in Ashland County
July 2, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $3 million contract to improve nine miles of US 2 between Odanah and Saxon. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
Northwoods Paving, a division of Mathy Construction Company, is the prime contractor. The road maintenance project consists of milling and replacing two inches of the roadway surface.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin July 6, 2009 and be completed by mid-August 2009. During construction, US 2 will remain open to traffic at all times with the use of flagging operations.
