Governor Doyle approves $3.4 million for US 12 in Walworth County
July 2, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $3.4 million contract to improve 10.8 miles of US 12 between WIS 67 and WIS 50 in Walworth County. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure.” Governor Doyle said.
B.R. Amon and Sons, Inc. is the prime contractor of the project. Construction includes concrete base patching, replacement of the paved median shoulders, and placement of new signing and pavement marking to provide a smoother ride and improved safety.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin the week of July 6, 2009. Most of the work will be done this summer with project completion expected by November 2009.
US 12 will remain open to traffic during construction but will be reduced to one lane in each direction. In addition, temporary lane closures will be required.
