Public meeting scheduled July 15 for WIS 55 in Menominee County

July 2, 2009

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting for the resurfacing of WIS 55 from WIS 47 to the Langlade County line in Menominee County.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Neopit Community Center Hall in St. Anthony’s Church at W6797 Church Street. The meeting will be an open house format. Exhibits showing the proposed improvements will be available for review and WisDOT staff will be available to discuss the project. Participants are invited to provide input concerning the project during or after the meeting.

The project includes repaving the highway with new asphalt and replacing signs, cross culverts, and beam guard. At most locations, work will be completed within the existing shoulder points. WisDOT does not plan to detour WIS 55 during construction. The project will be constructed under traffic. Construction is currently scheduled for 2012.

All citizens with concerns as well as those with knowledge that may assist in the development of this project are encouraged to attend and/or contact project personnel.

Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, can contact the WisDOT Project Leader Jim Volkmann at (715) 365-5773. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Jim Volkmann, WisDOT, 510 North Hanson Lake Road, Rhinelander, WI 54501. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Jim Volkmann at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (dial 711).
