Public meeting July 15 for WIS 47 in Menominee County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss the improvements to WIS 47 from Menominee County M in Neopit to the Langlade County line in Menominee County.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in the Neopit Community Center Hall in St. Anthony’s Church, at W6797 Church Street, on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, from 5 to 6 p.m. The meeting will be an open house format. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be on display and WisDOT staff will be available to discuss the project.

The purpose of the meeting is to present information to the public regarding the preliminary design of the roadway. The proposed project includes repaving the highway with new asphalt and replacing signs, cross culverts, and beam guard. At most locations, work will be completed within the existing shoulder points. The department does not plan to detour WIS 47 during construction. The project will be constructed under traffic. Construction is currently scheduled for 2011.

All citizens with concerns as well as those with knowledge that may assist in the development of this project are encouraged to attend and/or contact project personnel.
