July 6, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 7 on the WIS 16/Monegan Overhead bridge, La Crosse. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle signed a $646,000 contract to improve the bridge located just north of the La Crosse Street/Losey Boulevard intersection.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
Zenith Tech, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project, which includes a deck overlay and joint repairs.
Construction is expected to be completed September 30, 2009.
Lane restrictions will be in place during construction. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and expect delays near the work zone. Alternate routes are recommended.
