Governor Doyle approves $1,315,790 for project at Sheboygan County Memorial Airport
July 10, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $1,315,790 project to reconstruct pavements at the Sheboygan
County Memorial Airport. The Governor’s action releases $32,895 in state funds to reconstruct
a portion of the parallel taxiway for the primary runway. Sheboygan County is also
contributing $32,895 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $1,250,000.
U.S. Rep. Thomas Petri was instrumental in supporting the funding of this project.
There are 134 aircraft based at the airport. The approximately 66,000 aircraft
operations at the airport each year rank it the tenth busiest airport in the state for total
take-offs and landings. A benefit/cost analysis done for the airport has revealed that every
$1 invested in airport improvements results in approximately $24 in economic activity for the local
area.
