July 10, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $12,000 project for the purchase of snow removal equipment at Capitol Airport in Brookfield. The Governor’s action releases $300 in state funds for the equipment. Wisconsin Aviation Investments, LLC, owner of this private, public use airport, is contributing another $300, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $11,400.
According to Andrew Trimble, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will increase the safety of arrivals and departures at the airport.
The purchase is scheduled to be made in early summer of 2009.
Capitol Airport has one paved runway and two turf runways. There are 107 aircraft based at
the airport, which is an FAA-designated reliever airport for Milwaukee’s Mitchell Field.
