Governor Doyle announces $2,265,000 in funding for Austin Straubel International Airport
July 10, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle today announced an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) award to make needed improvements at the Austin Straubel International Airport, in Green Bay. The $2,265,000 project will reconstruct outboard panels on Runway 18/36, rehabilitate Dutchman’s Creek culvert, and reconstruct connecting taxiways M3 and M4.
“Wisconsin has wasted no time in taking advantage of the federal Recovery and Reinvestment Act to put people to work and invest in future growth,” Governor Doyle said. “In Green Bay we are making a commitment to keep the community strong and help its economy grow.”
The project is scheduled to begin in June 2009 and should be completed by October 2009.
Austin Straubel International Airport is located southwest of the city of Green Bay. It is
a primary service air carrier airport, with two concrete runways, 7,700 feet and 8,200 feet in
length. The airport has a modern terminal building providing passenger services to the
traveling public. There are 115 aircraft based at the airport, and approximately 70,500
take-offs and landings occur each year.
