Governor Doyle announces $208,458 project at Rusk County Airport

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $208,458 project to repair pavement at the Rusk County Airport, near Ladysmith. The Governor’s action releases $5,211 in state funds to design and repair pavement. Rusk County is contributing $5,212, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $198,035.
According to Kim Kaarto, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project consists of pavement repair on the primary runway, 14/32, along with extensive crack filling on both runways.
Repairs should be completed by the end of summer 2009.
Facilities at the Rusk County Airport include a 4,000-foot paved primary runway and 3,200-foot
paved secondary runway that accommodate over 8,000 take-offs and landings each year.
