Governor Doyle approves $3 million for WIS 70 improvements in Burnett County
July 16, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $3 million contract to improve 12 miles of WIS 70 from Siren to the Burnett/Washburn county line. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
Monarch Paving, a division of Mathy Construction Company, is the prime contractor. The road maintenance project consists of milling and replacing two inches of the roadway surface.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin July 20, 2009 and completed by the end of August 2009.
During construction, WIS 70 will remain open to traffic at all times with the use of flagging operations.
