WIS 241 project scheduled to start in Milwaukee County
July 16, 2009
As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle approved a $4.4 million project to improve WIS 241 in Milwaukee County.
Work is scheduled to begin the week of July 27 to rehabilitate 3.9 miles of WIS 241 from the South Milwaukee County line to Drexel Avenue. Work will include resurfacing the existing roadway with new pavement and updating access to improve safety.
The roadway will remain open during construction; however, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The contractor, Stark Asphalt, a division of Northwest, is scheduled to complete the project by November 2009, weather permitting.
80 percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state funding.
