WIS 100 project scheduled to start in Milwaukee County
July 16, 2009
As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle approved a $5 million project to improve WIS 100 in Milwaukee County. Work is scheduled to begin the week of July 20.
Lunda Construction Company is the prime contractor for the project. Work will include resurfacing the WIS 100 bridge between Watertown Plank Road and Walnut Road.
Construction will be staged to allow two southbound lanes and one northbound lane of traffic to remain open at all times. The first half of the project is scheduled to occur from the week of July 20 to October 13, 2009. All lanes of traffic will be open by November 21, 2009. The second stage of construction will begin in spring 2010 and be completed by early summer 2010.
80 percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state funding.
