Closures rescheduled for Porter Road overpass construction in Portage County

The traffic impacts near the I-39/Porter Road overpass in Portage County have been rescheduled due to recent unfavorable weather conditions. Motorists can expect the following traffic impacts this week:

  • Motorists can expect to encounter periodic lane closures on I-39.
  • On Wednesday, July 15, from 8 to 10 p.m., motorists can expect to encounter traffic stops and delays on Portage County HH between I-39 and Portage County R and on County R between County HH and Porter Road.
  • On Wednesday, July 15, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., both northbound lanes of I-39 will be closed and detoured via Portage County B, Business 51, and Portage County HH.
  • On Thursday, July 16, from 8 to 10 p.m., crews will close Hoover Avenue between Airline Drive and Ramble Lane. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via Portage County HH, Business 51, and Plover Springs Drive. Motorists can expect traffic delays and stops on County HH between I-39 and Hoover Avenue and on Hoover Avenue between County HH and Porter Road.
  • On Thursday, July 16, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., both southbound lanes of I-39 will be closed and detoured via Portage County HH, Business 51, and Portage County B.

The closures are necessary for the delivery of concrete beams. The schedule is approximate and dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction status.

The reconstruction of the Porter Road overpass is scheduled for completion by September 2009.
