July 17, 2009

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $1,633,890 project to plan, design and construct a new terminal building at the Richard I. Bong Memorial Airport, in Superior.  The Governor’s action releases $366,945 in state funds for a new main terminal building at the airport.  The City of Superior is contributing $366,945 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $900,000.

According to Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will provide an efficient and attractive main terminal building for the flying public and the residents of the City of Superior.  The existing terminal building was constructed in 1937.

The project is scheduled to begin in summer 2009 and should be completed by March 2010.
