Governor Doyle approves $340,196 project at Adams County Airport
July 17, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $340,196 project to develop the hangar area at the Adams County Legion Field Airport. The Governor’s action releases $8,505 in state funds to construct a hangar area access road and hangar area taxiways. Adams County is contributing $8,506 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $323,185.
According to Stacey Miller, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will improve utilization of available building space by preparing the site for future hangar development. Development will include constructing a hangar area access road and hangar area taxiways.
The project should be completed by fall 2010.
Adams County Legion Field is located about one mile east of the villages of Adams and Friendship. It has one paved runway, 3,400 feet in length, and one turf strip, 3,300 feet in length. Approximately 18 single engine aircraft are based at the airport and a total of 7,000 take-offs and landings occur each year.
