July 17, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed an $873,000 contract to improve 5.5 miles of WIS 52 between Lily and the Forest County Line in Langlade County. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
Northeast Asphalt of Appleton is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface the highway with new asphalt and widen the driving lanes.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin July 27. Work is scheduled for completion by September 2009.
During construction, WIS 52 will remain open to traffic. Crews will use flagging operations to guide traffic through the construction zone.
