Work to start on US 41 Project in Winnebago County July 20

July 20, 2009

Construction of Fountain Avenue/Snell Road overpass begins Monday

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is announcing that work on a new Fountain Avenue/Snell Road overpass of US 41 starts on Monday, July 20, 2009. The construction will impact motorists on US 41 and cause the closure of several local roads near the construction zone for an extended period of time. The $3.9 million project will be completed by July 2010.

Traffic impacts beginning Monday, July 20 include:

  • US 41 will be restricted to one lane in each direction between County Y and the US 45 interchange to allow the temporary placement of concrete barrier to permit work on the overpass to begin. Lane restrictions will be in place between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. and will remain in effect through July 23, 2009.
  • Shoulder closures on both US 41 northbound and southbound lanes between County Y and US 45 interchange through November 20, 2009.
  • Snell Road will be closed to traffic from ½ mile north of Fernau Avenue to ½ mile west of Vinland Street until July 2010.
  • Fountain Avenue will be closed from Glenview Lane to Green Valley Road until July 2010.
  • Green Valley Road will be closed from Glenway Drive south through July 2010.

Other lane restrictions will be scheduled as necessary. The public will be informed through the use of message boards and announcements through the media.
