Governor Jim Doyle approves WIS 54 improvements in Wood County

As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $1.7 million contract to replace the Hemlock Creek bridge, the Small Creek bridge and the Cranberry Creek bridge on WIS 54 in Wood County. Construction is scheduled to begin July 22.
Earth, Inc. of Arpin is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will replace the three bridges.
Construction is currently scheduled for completion by December 2009.
WIS 54 will be closed during construction and detoured onto WIS 80, 173 and 73.
100 percent of the project will be paid with state transportation funds.
