WIS 83 project - from Wilson Avenue to WIS 175 - to start July 29 in Washington County

July 28, 2009

As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $675,000 project to improve 4.6 miles of WIS 83 from Wilson Avenue to WIS 175 in Washington County.

Construction is scheduled to begin July 29. Work will include repaving the existing roadway with new asphalt, replacing all guardrails, and installation of new safety terminal ends. The improvements will provide a smoother driving surface and prolong the life of the pavement.

The roadway will remain open to traffic; however, one lane will be closed during daylight hours with flagging.

The contractor, Payne and Dolan, Inc. is scheduled to complete the project by October, weather permitting.

100 percent of the project will be paid by state funding.
