Governor Doyle approves $2 million for WIS 64 improvements in Taylor County
July 29, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $2.2 million contract to improve 14 miles of WIS 64 from WIS 13 to the east county line. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
American Asphalt, a division of Mathy Construction, is the prime contractor. The road maintenance project consists of milling and resurfacing three inches of the roadway surface. Concrete curb/gutter replacement and beam guard rehabilitation at various locations are also part of the project.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin Aug. 3, 2009 and be completed by mid-September.
During construction, WIS 64 will remain open to traffic at all times with the use of flagging operations.
