Governor Doyle approves $157,894 project at Platteville Municipal Airport

July 30, 2009

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $157,894 project to purchase snow removal equipment at the Platteville Municipal Airport.  The Governor’s action releases $3,947 in state funds to purchase a bi-directional tractor, loader, plow, snow blower and broom.  The city of Platteville is contributing another $3,947 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $150,000.

According to Stacey Miller, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the purchase will provide the airport with the necessary equipment to clear and maintain the airfield pavements during the winter months.

The new equipment is expected to be delivered by November 2009.

Facilities at the Platteville Municipal Airport include the existing 4,000-foot primary runway and a 3,600-foot crosswind runway.
