Governor Doyle approves $157,895 project at Cumberland Municipal Airport
July 30, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $157,895 project for construction services at the Cumberland Municipal Airport. The Governor’s action releases $3,947 in state funds to pave the hangar access road and airport tenant parking areas. The city of Cumberland is contributing another $3,947 for the project and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $150,000.
According to Craig Butler, project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the
project will provide tenant access to the hangar area and provide parking for six vehicles.
Paving these structures will check erosion and reduce maintenance.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009.
Facilities at the Cumberland Municipal Airport include a 4,042–foot paved runway and a 2,000-foot turf airstrip. There are 15 aircraft based at the airport and approximately 11,000 aircraft take-offs and landings each year.
