Meeting to focus on gathering knowledge and noting public concerns

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Superior is announcing a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements to a section of US 2 in Ashland County. The meeting is scheduled from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009 in the City Council Chambers at the Ashland City Hall, 601 Main Street.

The proposed reconstruction/mill and overlay project extends from 36th Avenue east to Bear Trap Road and from Bear Trap Road to the Bad River. The projects will include removing the 1938 concrete layer, reconstructing the aging pavement structure, regrading the roadway as necessary for drainage and/or subgrade deficiencies, construction of a one-mile long passing lane for each direction of traffic and intersection improvements. The projects are scheduled for the 2011 construction season.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis. The meeting will be held in an open house format, there are no formal presentations planned.
