August 5, 2009
Hearing will focus on the Final Draft Connections 2030 statewide long-range multimodal transportation plan and its System-Plan Environmental Evaluation
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting an open forum public hearing on the Final Draft Connections 2030 statewide long-range multimodal transportation plan and its corresponding System-Plan Environmental Evaluation.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Milwaukee County Transit Center, 909 E. Michigan Ave., Harbor Lights Room. Oral testimony will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The public is invited to review the exhibits, ask questions and provide testimony. WisDOT staff will be available to answer questions. Written testimony forms and a court reporter will be available for anyone interested in providing written or oral testimony. While no formal presentation will be given, an ongoing PowerPoint presentation will be available for participants to review.
Connections 2030 provides a vision for highways, local roads, air, water, rail, bicycle, pedestrian and transit through the year 2030. When adopted, the plan policies and recommendations will direct WisDOT’s activities in areas such as preserving transportation infrastructure and services, promoting transportation and supporting economic growth.
The environmental evaluation provides a qualitative review of the plan’s recommendations, and the potential environmental and social impacts if the plan is implemented.
Comments will be accepted until August 31, 2009.
