Governor Doyle approves funds for bridge painting in NE Wisconsin
August 21, 2009
Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $354,000 contract to paint three bridges on US 41 between Green Bay and Abrams in Brown and Oconto counties. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
C&L Contracting, Inc. of Gillett, WI is the prime contractor of the project. The bridges crossing the Suamico River and the Little Suamico River will be cleaned and repainted. Construction on the project is tentatively scheduled to begin August 26, 2009. Project completion is expected by November 2009.
US 41 will remain open to traffic with occasional short term lane closures. Riverside Drive in Suamico could be closed in the vicinity of US 41 for up to eight days. Motorists should use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
