Governor Doyle Approves $2 Million for US 45 in Vilas County
August 26, 2009
Project Advanced Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $2 million contract to improve seven miles of US 45 between Chain O'Lakes Road and County K in Vilas County. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.
Northeast Asphalt of Appleton is the prime contractor of the project. Crews will repave US 45 with new asphalt.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin on August 31. Work is scheduled for completion by the end of October.
During construction, US 45 will remain open to traffic. Some sections of the highway may be reduced to one lane during daylight hours. Crews will use flagging operations to guide traffic through the construction zone.
