Overnight Lane Closure on US 41 in Winnebago County Wednesday, Sept. 2

September 1, 2009

Affects southbound lane near US 41/WIS 21 interchange

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is announcing the US 41 southbound right (driving) lane from WIS 21 to the Witzel Avenue overpass is tentatively scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 to 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3.

The closure is necessary so a concrete barrier can be placed to close the right shoulder of US 41 from WIS 21 to the Witzel Avenue overpass through mid-November. The barrier needs to be positioned to protect crews as they upgrade nearby Washburn Street and to protect motorists on US 41 southbound and Washburn Street.

About the project

WisDOT is initiating expansion and improvement of two segments of US 41 totaling 31 miles.

The project will include road expansion to accommodate traffic volume, improved interchanges and expansion of the Lake Butte des Morts Causeway. The project, beginning in summer 2009, will improve safety and ease congestion for travelers. Current construction information and details about the project can be found at the WisDOT website or US41Wisconsin.gov.
