Public Meeting Sept. 9 to Discuss Scheuring Road (County F) Interchange in Brown County
September 4, 2009
Public meeting focuses on traffic management options
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting to obtain comment on traffic management plans being considered for the reconstruction of the Scheuring Road (County F) interchange at US 41 in Brown County. The open house meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Hemlock Creek Elementary School, 1900 Williams Grant Pass in the town of Lawrence. There will be a brief presentation at 5:30 p.m.
Reconstruction of the US 41/Scheuring Road interchange is scheduled to begin in late summer 2010 and end in late 2011. Proposed changes include:
- Replacing the Scheuring Road bridge over US 41.
- Constructing four roundabouts on Scheuring Road, at on- and off-ramps to US 41, intersection of Lawrence Drive, and intersection of PDQ/ Mid Valley Drive.
- Removing Mid Valley Drive intersection with Scheuring Road and realigning Mid Valley Drive and Eisenhower Drive intersection.
WisDOT has developed three traffic management plans to help minimize impacts to motorists during construction. Each has a different construction schedule and proposes varying degrees of access to motorists. The scenarios were developed by a task force taking into consideration:
- Costs to motorists due to construction detours.
- Impacts to schools and community facilities.
- Maintenance of access to businesses.
- Coordination with emergency responders.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project. Displays explaining the three options in detail will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project.
