Governor Doyle approves $758,000 for WIS 13/73 in Wood County

Project advanced through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

As part of national efforts to create jobs and provide immediate economic benefits to Wisconsin and the country, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $758,000 contract to improve 2.5 miles of WIS 13/73 between WIS 73 west and WIS 80 south in Wood County. The project was advanced using funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“Wisconsin is helping to lead the way to economic recovery by putting people to work quickly on projects that improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said.

American Asphalt of Mosinee is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will resurface the highway with new asphalt.

Construction is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 9 and should be completed by mid-October 2009.

During construction, WIS 13/73 will remain open to traffic. Crews will use flagging operations to guide traffic through the construction zone.
