WIS 112 to close for bridge, dam inspection in Ashland County

Xcel Energy has completed their inspection of the hydro electric dam over the White River. However, WIS 112 will remain closed until Wednesday, Sept. 16 to facilitate culvert replacement work being done by the Ashland County Highway Department. Other work being done includes maintenance work on the bridge deck.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has announced WIS 112, south of Ashland, is closing at noon today (Aug. 27) so crews can perform inspections to the bridge and hydro-generating dam over the White River.

Crews from WisDOT and Xcel Energy will be inspecting the facility.

Xcel is drawing down the water on the river to allow crews to inspect the footings under the structure. The dam was built in 1926.

WIS 112 will be closed to through traffic between WIS 118 and WIS 13 until further notice.
