Ceremony Oct. 30 for opening College Avenue Bridge in Appleton
September 11, 2009
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a ribbon cutting ceremony for the College Avenue Bridge in Appleton has been scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony is being hosted by the city of Appleton.
According to Michael J. Berg, WisDOT Northeast Region director, “We set a date with Appleton for the ribbon cutting and wanted to get the good word out to the Appleton community. Right now, we anticipate opening the bridge on that date.”
He did caution that there is still a lot of work to be done that could delay the actual opening of the bridge to traffic for a few days.
While the ceremony is in the planning stages, it will include a ribbon cutting. Following the ceremony, the bridge will remain closed to motorized traffic for a short while to allow citizens to tour the bridge.
Originally, the bridge was scheduled to open in early November, but good weather has helped speed up construction.
