Public meeting Sept. 22 for WIS 25 in Buffalo County

September 14, 2009

Meeting to focus on bridge replacement projects

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Eau Claire is announcing a public information meeting to discuss the Highways for Life project that will replace three bridges and widen another on WIS 25 between Nelson, Wisconsin and Wabasha, Minnesota. The meeting is scheduled from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the village of Nelson Community Center, S105 N. Main Street, Nelson.

The public is encouraged to attend the open-house-style meeting to learn more about the project that is currently underway. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project schedule and how it will affect area residents, businesses and commuters. Maps showing the proposed improvements to the bridges will be on display. This project was awarded $1 million from the federal Highways for Life program. The purpose of the program is to accelerate the adoption of innovations and new technologies, thereby improving safety and highway quality while reducing congestion caused by construction.
