Governor Doyle approves $350,000 project at La Crosse Municipal Airport
September 15, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $350,000 project to reconstruct the east side airport entrance road at the La Crosse Municipal Airport. The Governor’s action releases $280,000 in state funds for the project and the city of La Crosse is contributing the remaining $70,000.
According to Wendy Hottenstein, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will reconstruct the airport’s east side entrance road, which is over 30 years old and in serious need of repair.
The construction project is scheduled to begin in September 2009.
The La Crosse Municipal Airport is located four miles north of the city of La Crosse on French
Island in the middle of the Mississippi River. There are 89 aircraft based at the airport,
which has three runways that accommodate approximately 50,000 take-offs and landings annually.
