September 21, 2009

Work gets underway Monday, Sept. 21 at WIS 26 interchange

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is announcing that work is tentatively scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 21 on the construction of two crash investigation sites at the US 41/WIS 26 interchange in Winnebago County. The crash investigation sites will be built on US 41 northbound and southbound off-ramps to WIS 26. The $164,000 project should be completed by the middle of October.

Traffic impact during construction:

  • Right shoulder closures on both US 41 northbound and southbound off-ramps to WIS 26.
  • Ramp lane width will be narrowed to 11 feet.

Motorists are reminded to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.

About the project

WisDOT is initiating expansion and improvement of two segments of US 41 totaling 31 miles. The project will include road expansion to accommodate traffic volume, improved interchanges and expansion of the Lake Butte des Morts Causeway. The project, begun in summer 2009, will improve safety and ease congestion for travelers. Current construction information and details about the project can be found at www.dot.wisconsin.gov or US41Wisconsin.gov.
