Ribbon cutting Oct. 17 for US 41 in Oconto County

Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a ribbon cutting has been scheduled marking the completion of the US 41 expansion project in Oconto County. It will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at the intersection of US 41 and WIS 22, beginning at 2 p.m. The event is being hosted by the city of Oconto and the Oconto Area Chamber of Commerce.
Among the dignitaries invited to participate are Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, US Congressman Steve Kagen, Transportation Secretary Frank Busalacchi and other state and local officials. Plans also include participation by the Oconto High School band and local veterans.
According to Oconto Mayor Donald Nerenhausen, “Our goal in hosting this event is to celebrate
and commemorate the history-making dedication of the new highway into and around our proud city."
Following the ribbon cutting, the celebration will continue until 7 p.m. Some of the many
activities include a DJ, food, refreshments, children’s activities, helicopter rides, and a classic
car and motorcycle parade.
