Construction on Birch Street/Business 53 interchange in Eau Claire County nearing completion

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Eau Claire is announcing both lanes of southbound Hastings Way from Birch Street to the North Crossing and the newly completed signalized intersection at Birch Street will open to through traffic, beginning Monday, Oct. 5. This opening however, is dependent on the weather and may be pushed back an additional day.

In addition, the southbound Business 53 ramp from WIS 312 will be reopened to traffic, but southbound Hastings Way will be limited to one lane from Galloway Street to Birch Street.  Northbound Hastings Way traffic will be limited to one lane from Galloway Street to the North Crossing and the Galloway Street ramp to southbound Business 53 will be closed during the final stage of construction.

The $8 million project is expected to be completed  by Nov. 6, 2009.
