Public meeting Oct. 14 to discuss US 41 Project in Winnebago County

October 7, 2009

Discussion will focus on three month closure of WIS 76 interchange in 2010

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is holding a public information meeting on construction planned in the US 45 to Breezewood Lane segment of the US 41 Project in Winnebago County. The open house meeting is from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the US 41 Winnebago County Field Office, 2905 Universal Street (west of Prime Outlets at the WIS 44 interchange), Oshkosh. There will be a brief presentation at 5:15 p.m.

Improvements include:

  • Expanding US 41 from four to six lanes.
  • Reconstructing the interchange at WIS 76 and Breezewood Lane.  On- and off-ramps will be lengthened and bridges over US 41 widened.
  • Roundabouts will replace signalized intersections at the ramp terminals of the Breezewood Lane interchange and at the Breezewood Lane intersections of Gillingham Road/Bergstrom Road and Harrison Street.

Starting in April 2010 and continuing through June 2010, improvements will be made at the WIS 76 interchange, closing it to through traffic off US 41 northbound and southbound. The improvements will allow the interchange to stay open during construction of additional traffic lanes on US 41 starting in 2011 and will provide access to US 41 when the US 45 interchange is closed in 2011.

Other upcoming 2010 construction includes:

  • Temporary pavement widening along US 41 beginning July 2010.
  • Reconstruction of the Breezewood Lane interchange starting July 2010 and continuing through fall of 2012.  The Breezewood Lane interchange will be closed in 2011.
  • Construction of the flyover ramps at the US 45 interchange and roundabouts at the interchange ramps west of US 41 beginning August 2010 and continuing through fall of 2012.

Construction of additional traffic lanes on US 41 from US 45 to Breezewood Lane will begin in 2011 and continue through fall of 2013.

The public is encouraged to attend to provide input and ask questions about the project. Construction displays and schedule information will be available.
