Public meetings set for Oct. 15 and 22 for US 41 noise barrier design in Brown County

October 9, 2009

Goal is to obtain feedback from neighborhoods on community sensitive design options

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is holding two public information meetings to obtain comments on proposed community sensitive design (CSD) features being incorporated into noise barriers to be constructed in Brown County as part of the US 41 project. CSD elements are being integrated into noise barriers planned for both the east and west sides of US 41 between the WIS 172 and Mason Street (WIS 54) interchanges. Two open house meetings are scheduled to discuss design options:

  • Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009
    Southwest High School
    1331 Packerland Drive
    Green Bay
    6 - 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009
    Ashwaubenon High School
    2391 S. Ridge Road
    Ashwaubenon
    6 - 8 p.m.

The proposed noise barrier design aesthetics are part of the CSD process that has been ongoing in Brown County for the US 41 corridor.  For the last six months a citizen’s advisory committee has been meeting to determine treatments (colors, materials, and textures) for the transportation corridor.

The public is encouraged to attend either meeting to learn more about the noise barriers and provide input. The meetings include displays showing possible treatments. WisDOT staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

If you are unable to attend the meetings or would like more information, contact Chris Culotta at (920) 492-7712 or send e-mail to christopher.culotta@dot.wi.gov. The meeting facilities are wheelchair accessible. People who are deaf or hard of hearing who require an interpreter may call Chris Culotta via the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (dial 711). Please call at least three working days prior to the meetings.
