Public meeting scheduled October 20 for WIS 33 in Columbia County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting to discuss project information for the bridge deck replacement project on WIS 33 over the Wisconsin River in Columbia County. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at the city of Portage Municipal Building, 115 West Pleasant Street.
The purpose of this project is to replace the deteriorating deck of the Wisconsin River Bridge while enhancing safety along the length of the project. Work includes replacing the existing deck, installing light fixtures and new signing, and replacing the curb and gutter. Existing beam guard will be replaced. WIS 33 will be closed for the duration of the project and traffic will be detoured via I-39 and WIS 16. Construction is scheduled to begin March 2011.
The public is encouraged to attend this meeting, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvements will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
