US 51 lane closures scheduled Oct. 26 - 30 in Wausau

US 51 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Marathon County K and Bridge Street, in Wausau, beginning Monday, Oct. 26.

The lane closures are necessary for crews to resurface the highway. The work is scheduled for completion on Friday, Oct. 30.

Crews plan to close the on ramp to southbound US 51 on Tuesday, Oct. 27. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via North 20th Avenue to Bridge Street. Crews plan to reopen the ramp by the end of the day.

Motorists should also be alert for slow moving vehicles, heavy construction equipment and turning trucks within the work zone. To avoid any potential delays motorists may want to use alternate routes.

The work requires favorable weather conditions and is subject to change.
