Governor Doyle approves $320,000 project at Rice Lake Regional Airport
October 28, 2009
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $320,000 project to upgrade the fuel system, install security cameras and construct the Phase II terminal expansion at the Rice Lake Regional Airport. The Governor’s action releases $256,000 in state funds for the project and the City of Rice Lake is contributing $64,000.
According to David Montesinos, project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will provide the airport with more revenue generation facilities, decreasing the airport’s dependence on state and local funding; it also will provide more security and safety at the airport.
The project is scheduled to begin in fall 2009 and should be completed by summer 2010.
Facilities at the Rice Lake Regional Airport include a 6,700 primary runway and a 3,500-foot
crosswind runway. The airport accommodates 28,000 aircraft take-offs and landings each year.
