Public meetings Dec. 1 and 9 for WIS 20 in Walworth and Racine counties

Meetings to focus on the planning study to identify short- and long-term improvements

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha is announcing two public information meetings to discuss the planning study for the WIS 20 corridor from US 12 (about ten miles east of Whitewater, Walworth County) to WIS 31 (City of Racine, Racine County).

The meetings are scheduled:

Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009
Waterford Public Library
101 N. River Street, Waterford
5 to 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009
East Troy Middle School Auditorium
3143 Graydon Avenue, East Troy
4 to 6 p.m.

The study will identify possible short and long-term improvements along the WIS 20 corridor. A complete analysis will be conducted of the state and local transportation systems, environmental resources, access points and intersections, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and surrounding land use. The study will identify locations where safety and/or congestion problems exist or are expected to emerge. Ultimately, a transportation planning study report will be developed for the corridor with recommendations for improvements.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this study. Maps showing the study area will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
