Northwest Region weekly construction update

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is providing a weekly update on construction projects in the Northwest Region, which includes the counties of Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix, Taylor, Trempealeau and Washburn counties.

Construction related traffic impacts are subject to change and dependent on favorable weather patterns.

Ashland County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Barron County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Bayfield County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Buffalo County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Burnett County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Chippewa County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Clark County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Douglas County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Dunn County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Eau Claire County

US 53
Location: Bridges over I-94 in Eau Claire
Schedule: April 6 to December 9, 2011
Cost: $3.4 million
Description: Bridge deck replacement project
Traffic impact: US 53 traffic is running in one lane in each direction.

Eau Claire/Trempealeau counties

I-94
Location: Eau Claire to Osseo
Schedule: Project complete
Cost: $1.2 million
Description: Construction of crossover ramps
Traffic impact: No remaining traffic impacts.

Jackson County

US 12
Location: Fairchild to Black River Falls (North Junction Old US 12 – Ruf Road)
Schedule: September 26 to November 24, 2011
Cost: $3.2 million
Description: Resurface and road improvement project
Traffic impact: Work on US 12 will be done with moving single lane closures controlled by flagging operations. US 12 is also an alternate route for I-94, so in case of emergency, all lanes of US 12 will be opened up for use as alternate I-94.

Pepin County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Pierce County

US 35
Location: Village of Maiden Rock
Schedule: May 31 to December 2011
Cost: $3.7 million
Description: Retaining wall improvement project
Traffic impact: No current traffic impacts.

Polk County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Rusk County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

St. Croix County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Sawyer County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Taylor County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Trempealeau County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Washburn County

No state construction projects currently in progress.

Motorists should slow down, use caution and stay alert when driving through construction zones. To avoid delays, consider taking an alternative route and avoid peak travel periods. Before leaving home, check the following sources for information about work zones and detours:
