WIS 73 realignment project scheduled to begin in Wood County
March 22, 2013
Property owners, public invited to attend construction information meeting on April 8
The $2.9 million WIS 73 realignment project located at the north WIS 13/73 intersection (town of Saratoga) is currently scheduled to begin as early as Monday, April 8. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions.
The public is invited to attend a construction information meeting to learn more about the planned construction activities, the construction schedule and how traffic will be managed. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Town Hall Building, 1120 WIS 73 South, Saratoga. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at (715) 421-8380 at least three working days prior to the meeting.
The prime contractor for the project is Mashuda Contractors Inc. of Princeton. Crews will:
- Realign WIS 73 onto the existing Mill Avenue alignment, from Seven Mile Creek to WIS 13 continuing west on WIS 73, ending 350 feet east of Carousel Court. This realignment consists of the construction of a two-lane highway, intersection improvements, added turn lanes, and side road.
- Upgrade the current north WIS 73 and WIS 13 intersection with the addition of turn lanes, storm sewer construction, median islands, new lighting and traffic signals.
- Eliminate the south intersection of WIS 73 and WIS 13.
During construction, WIS 73 and WIS 13 will remain open to at least one lane of traffic in each direction. Access to local roads, residences and businesses will be maintained. Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures on WIS 13 and WIS 73. Mill Avenue will be closed to through traffic.
Construction is scheduled for completion by November 2013.
Eighty percent of the project will be paid for with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid for with state transportation funds.
