May 17, 2013

Work set to begin Monday, May 20 in Little Chute

As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker has approved $3.7 million to improve 1.5 miles of East Main Street (WIS 96) from Jackson Street to Hayes Street in the village of Little Chute, Outagamie County. The project will begin Monday, May 20 and conclude by October 15, 2013.

The contractor is Vinton Construction Company, Manitowoc.

The project will reconstruct the roadway, including storm sewer, sidewalks, landscaping, signing and pavement marking. There will be a lane for driving and one for bikes westbound, plus a lane for driving, one for bikes and a parking lane eastbound.

Both the pavement and storm sewer have deteriorated and need to be replaced. The dedicated bike lane will improve safety along this roadway for bicyclists.

The highway will be closed to through traffic, though access to businesses and residences will be maintained. The detour is WIS 96, County N, County OO, WIS 55 and WIS 96.
