Governor Walker approves $435,000 project at Lakeland Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $435,053 project to design and construct a new snow removal equipment building at Lakeland Airport/Noble F. Lee Memorial Field in Woodruff.

Terry Ripp, airport engineering specialist, with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the new building is needed to store and maintain the airport’s snow removal equipment. In addition, the project also includes the development of a storm water management plan as part of a WisDOT agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Design work is expected to begin in August and be completed by December 2013.

Funding Breakdown

✈State = $15,043
✈Towns of Arbor Vitae, Lac du Flambeau, Minocqua and Woodruff = $15,043
✈Federal Aviation Administration = $404,967

Lakeland Airport/Noble F. Lee Memorial Field is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan (SASP). The airport is classified as a medium general aviation airport. It supports most single and multi-engine general aviation aircraft, including aircraft commonly used by businesses.
