Governor Walker approves WIS 116 improvements in Winnebago County
July 10, 2013
Two projects set to begin
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker has approved $910,000 to improve 5.5 miles of WIS 116 in Winnebago County. This work involves two separate projects.
The contractor for both projects is Northeast Asphalt, Greenville, Wisconsin.
Beginning Thursday, July 18, 4.1 miles of WIS 116 from WIS 91 in Waukau to the south city limits of Omro will be resurfaced. In the rural section north of Waukau, the existing shoulders will be paved and rumble strips added along the edge of the road. The roadway will remain open during construction with one lane closed and traffic controlled by flagging operations during daylight hours. Normal two-lane operation will be restored when work is not being performed.
The second project begins Thursday, July 25 and involves resurfacing the driving lanes on 1.4 miles of WIS 116 (Main Street) from 9th Street to 13th Avenue in the village of Winneconne.
While this section of highway will also remain open during construction, one lane will be closed
in the immediate work area and traffic will be controlled by flagging operations. Work on this
project will be restricted to the hours between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Both projects will be completed by September. Motorists are advised there is the potential for backups. They should remain alert and use caution when driving through this or any work zone.
