WIS 23 intersections scheduled to be open for Sheboygan County Fair

August 23, 2013

Intersections at County O and Pleasant View to open by Thursday, August 29

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing work at the WIS 23 intersections with County O and Pleasant View Road in Sheboygan County will be completed and these intersections opened to traffic by noon, Thursday, August 29. In addition, the WIS 23 intersection at County E will remain open to traffic through the holiday weekend. Work at that location will start Tuesday, September 3, at which time it will be closed for construction.

As part of the new WIS 23 intersection configurations at County O and Pleasant View Road, drivers will be able to continue making right and left turns from WIS 23 onto those roadways. They can also make right turns from those county roads onto WIS 23. However, drivers will no longer be able to make a left turn or cross WIS 23 from these two side roads. Drivers wishing to cross the highway or make a left turn will make a right turn onto WIS 23 and then complete a U-turn at the next available intersection or interchange. These intersection modifications were done to improve safety by reducing the potential for crashes at these intersections.

During the holiday weekend, drivers will still be able to make all turning maneuvers at the WIS 23 intersection at County E, since work at that location has not started. Once construction is completed at the County E intersection later this fall, this intersection will be configured the same as County O and Pleasant View Road.

This overall safety improvement project, which includes reconstruction of WIS 23 intersections at County O, County E, Pleasant View Road, and County M, began in June and is anticipated to be completed in October of this year.
