Governor Walker approves nearly $195,000 project at Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $194,894 project to purchase snow removal equipment and attachments for Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport in Wisconsin Rapids.
Terry Ripp, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the equipment includes a tractor, blower, loader, broom, blade and push plow to keep pavements clear of snow and ice. Currently, the airport does not have any snow removal equipment.

The equipment will be delivered in early fall, just in time for Wisconsin’s winter season.
Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan (SASP). The airport is classified as a medium general aviation airport. It supports most single and multi-engine general aviation aircraft, including aircraft commonly used by businesses. The South Wood County Airport Commission includes the cities of Nekoosa and Wisconsin Rapids, the town of Grand Rapids and the village of Port Edwards.
