Public meeting for WIS 16 (Cass Street) improvements

September 20, 2013

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public information meeting to discuss the proposed improvements to WIS 16 (Cass Street) between 4th Street and 7th Street in the city of La Crosse. The meeting is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8 in the 5th floor conference room of the La Crosse City Hall, 400 La Crosse Street.

Project improvements include reconstructing WIS 16 (Cass Street) between 4th Street and 7th Street with a roundabout, eliminating the offset intersection that currently exists. The reconstruction work along Cass Street includes replacing the pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, storm sewer, street lighting, and traffic signals. The city of La Crosse also plans to replace the water main. Construction is currently scheduled for 2017. Cass Street will be closed to traffic during construction with a detour using 4th Street and La Crosse Street.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Reiny Yahnke, WisDOT project manager, at (608) 785-9050.
